National Community Action Foundation
What is NCAF?
NCAF is a 501(c)(4) non-profit membership organization, established in 1981, that serves as the federal advocate for Community Action Agencies and their state and federal partners. NCAF lobbies Congress on funding and policy proposals affecting Community Action and keeps the network informed on activities in Washington. Current legislative priorities include appropriations and reauthorization legislation for CSBG and the Weatherization Assistance Program.
How is NCAF funded?
Local Community Action Agencies and their state and national partners support NCAF through contributions, CAPFacts newsletter subscriptions, or by arranging Board of Director briefing calls or workshops on the history of Community Action, advocacy, or Congress. NCAF is the only organization in the Community Action network that receives no federal funds.
Who are partners in the Community Action network?
The Community Action network includes the nation’s local Community Action Agencies and their state associations. In addition to NCAF, national partners include the Community Action Partnership, a national membership association that provides training, technical assistance, and resources for CSBG grantees; the National Association of State Community Services Programs, a membership association of state administrators of CSBG and weatherization programs; and CAPLAW, which provides legal, governance, and management assistance to the Community Action network.
